Father's Day Weekend

For Tim's first Father's Day, McClain and I took him to Cincinnati. The Texas Rangers were going to be playing the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, so we bought tickets to the game, booked the hotels, and surprised him with a fun-filled weekend. We arrived in Cincinnati Friday evening around 5:00. Our hotel was located downtown, and it was very nice. In the hotel lobby we picked up some brochures on things to do, and of course, something immediately caught our attention for that night. So, we took our bags upstairs, got some dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse, and headed for...what else but... the Cincinnati Bass Pro Shop. It was huge, and we stayed until they closed.

Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Cincinnati Zoo. It was incredible! McClain especially loved the petting zoo part of it (don't worry, Mom and Ronda, we washed his hands as soon as he was done!). That evening we went to the ballgame. I won't mention the outcome of the game, but we did have a great time. We were hoping Sammy Sosa would hit his 600th homer while we were there...no luck.

Sunday we went to the Newport Aquarium. It is located in Newport, KY, just across the river from Cincinnati. This aquarium boasts of their sharks- with good reason. They said they had more sharks than any other aquarium in the world, and we believe it. They had even bred a shark with a stingray....creepy? Yes, but very interesting. They had a shark petting area as well, and that was a first for all of us.

All in all, we had a terrific Father's Day weekend. Tim is a great father, and he deserves to be recognized as one- and not just on Father's Day. I hope McClain and I constantly remind him of how wonderful he is, and I know McClain and any other boys we might have from here on out will grow up to be great fathers as well from watching him!!!
