Family Weekend

This past weekend Tim, McClain, and I all went to Gatlinburg to spend the weekend with my parents, my sister and her family, and my mom's side of the family from East Tennessee. We rented out a huge cabin and spent much of the weekend just spending time together there. Saturday everyone split off for the first part of the morning, though, to do whatever they wanted, so Tim and I went hiking. It was a hike that took us to Laurel Falls. They were beautiful to look at, and well worth the hike up to them. We all had a great weekend, and then we stopped to see more family on the way home. It was good to catch up- we'll be heading to another family reunion next weekend in Alabama. At least we're staying busy!

A New Love?

Well, Tim has been convinced that McClain is already a huge baseball fan, but we may have found something else he likes even more- Tim's new guitar. Tim recently sold his drumset and bought a new guitar to replace his old one. Everytime he plays it, McClain gets so excited and tries to crawl up on it to play with him. He may not have the strength in his opposable thumbs to play so great yet, but I'm thinking by 18 months, he'll be a pro.

Yummy!!!

McClain had his first plate of spaghetti last night. He loved it, as you can clearly see from the pictures. As soon as he was finished, we had to immediately strip him down and put him in the bathtub. He even had hamburger meat in his ears! I think we'll wait a while before we ever order him spaghetti out in public.

So, I have been tagged, thanks to my sister-in-law, Amy. So here we go:
1. I think I was born to be a mother- not saying I'm the best, just that I cannot imagine a job I could possibly enjoy more.
2. I majored in Biology for my first year and a half at Harding. I wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner.
3. My dream is to write a children's book- maybe one day I will.
4. I want four kids (at least). Don't worry, Tim doesn't have quite the same idea in mind.
5. I hate scary movies. They give me the "heebie jeebies" and I can't sleep well after I watch them.
6. I love soap operas- If I am going to miss Days of Our Lives, I DVR it. Can't believe I admitted that one.
7. I have had the same best friend since my sophomore year of high school. I just wish I reminded her more often that she still means that much to me.
8. I love my husband and my son more than I could ever imagine loving anyone- they teach me a whole new meaning to the word.

Uncle Dave Macon Days

Tonight we went to the Uncle Dave Macon Days Bluegrass Festival in Murfreesboro with David, Sara and Taylor Whitfield. The kids had a great time playing together and we all really enjoyed the food- they fry everything you can think of there (oreos, moon pies, cheesecake- my personal favorite, whatever you can possibly imagine). There were tons of great crafts to view and the music was outstanding. Here are a few pics of our fun night!

McClain meets Ozzie

Last night we got free tickets to the Nashville Sounds game because Tim had to make a presentation before the game started. Since Tim had to go down to the field to make his presentation, they allowed McClain and me to go on the field with him. McClain had a blast once we got down there. He got his picture taken with Ozzie and they even let him keep the ball that was used for the first pitch. It looks like he's a baseball fan already. Or maybe he's like all other kids and likes giant, cuddly animals and any type of ball. But since Tim is already convinced that he's going to play in the Majors one day, we'll go with the fact that he's already a huge baseball fan!

And...he's off!!!

That's right- our lives will never be the same- McClain is crawling. And let me just say that when this baby boy discovers something new, he does it full force. He started crawling Monday, July 9, and I don't really think he's stopped yet, except the brief moments that we make him eat or sleep. He is very curious, and he's anxious to discover everything he can as quick as he can. We love it, though. We are just trying to keep up!
